The DSL was established sixteen years ago by Prof. Maurizio Porfiri (Institute Professor at Tandon School of Engineering and Director of the Center for Urban Science and Progress, with appointments at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Department of Civil and Urban Engineering, and the Center for Urban Science and Progress). The DSL is home to a highly collaborative, vibrant group of young scholars with complementary expertise across theory, experiments, and computations. The director, Prof. Porfiri, is the author of more than 350 journal publications and the recipient of numerous professional awards (Wikipedia/Maurizio_Porfiri).
Expectations Candidates will be responsible for leading the design and testing of virtual reality systems, mentoring undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, coordinating outreach activities, and supporting proposal writing and grantsmanship. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in designing and implementing human-computer or human-robot interfaces; as exemplified by a strong publication record. Previous experience on virtual reality simulations (e.g., Unity, C#, VR headsets) or user-interface prototyping for testing usability and interaction is desired. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD in computer engineering, computer science, human-centered technology, innovation & design, robotics, neuroscience or related fields; or a related field. We welcome applicants with recent PhDs and individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
Salary range In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $62,500 depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.
