The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (ChBE) at Tufts University invites applications for the Robert and Marcy Haber Endowed Professorship in Energy Sustainability faculty position. Applicants will be considered at the full Professor rank but exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor rank are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an impactful, highly visible research program and to demonstrate excellence in teaching, including core chemical engineering subjects, and in mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students.
We invite applicants whose research complements our current strengths in advanced materials for energy and sustainability, catalysis, and cellular & biomolecular engineering. Applicants whose expertise is broadly in the area of sustainability are strongly encouraged to apply. This includes, but is not limited to, experimental and/or computational disciplines in design of materials (including biosynthetic, soft, and/or renewable materials), mitigation of climate change, energy resilience, food security, and biomanufacturing. We seek individuals who embrace opportunities to work collaboratively within the department as well as across the School of Engineering (SOE) and the University. This search is part of cluster hires by the SOE in engineering for sustainability aiming at developing pragmatic, innovative solutions for environmentally and socially responsible use of energy and materials with minimal impact to the natural environment. This is in parallel with another SoE initiative seeking expertise at the intersection of artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and engineering and human health. Candidates will be expected to work collaboratively across the university in support of Tufts’ strategic emphasis areas of climate, equity, and sustainability.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess an earned doctorate in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline .
