    Work description



    • Support the modelling of a Decision Support System to improve decision-making regarding the design of last-mile parcel delivery policies.

    • Develop a parcel delivery simulation module integrating traditional simulation techniques and Machine Learning models.

    • Design the system architecture, design algorithms for integrating machine learning and generative AI models with a focus on algorithms with a low computational footprint, develop system interfaces, conduct usability tests, and document the system to be developed.

    • Write scientific articles.

    • Present scientific papers at events.

    • Write the scholarship activity report.


     


    Academic Qualifications



    • Bachelor's and Master's degree in computer engineering, industrial management engineering, electrical engineering or related field.


     


    Minimum profile required



    • Average grade higher than 12 in both Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

    • 1 article submitted for presentation at a conference or publication in a journal.


     


    Preference factors



    • Enrolled in or attending a doctoral programme.

    • Experience in using transport and logistics simulation models.

    • Experience in developing and/or using ML approaches with low computational footprint.


     


    Maintenance stipend: € 1309.64, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants , paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants of INESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend.


     


    INESC TEC supports costs with registration, enrolment or tuition fees, during the grant duration, under the terms established in the internal document: "Payment of Tuition fees to grant holders".


     


    The grant holder will benefit from health insurance, supported by INESC TEC.
