    The Department of Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Baylor University seeks to fill two positions in Aerospace Engineering: 1) a tenure-eligible position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor to start on or before August 1, 2026; and 2) a clinical faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor to start on August 1, 2026. The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a concentration in aerospace engineering within the ABET accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering program. As of the fall semester of 2025, the department is launching a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering program. Responsibilities of the tenure-eligible position include providing leadership for the growth and development of the new program through maintaining a funded research program, undergraduate and graduate teaching, course and curriculum development, and professional service. Responsibilities of the practice-focused clinical faculty position, which is open to candidates with teaching and/or industrial expertise, include undergraduate teaching, course and curriculum development - including helping launch a design course in astronautics, student competition team mentoring, and professional service. These positions require expertise in some area of aeronautics and/or astronautics. On the astronautics side, this includes but is not limited to space propulsion systems, human space flight and space exploration, space environments, orbital mechanics, space autonomy, and spacecraft design. On the aeronautics side, this includes but is not limited to CFD, aerodynamics, aircraft propulsion, sustainable aviation, advanced air mobility, and hypersonics.
