  • Postdoctoral position in vascular tissue engineering
    Mechanical Engineering

    The Bellan Laboratory (https://my.vanderbilt.edu/bellanlab/) at Vanderbilt University seeks an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to work on an NIH-funded vascular tissue engineering project that focuses on establishing a 3D in vitro model of a congenital heart defect affecting newborns.


    We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and collaborative candidate with a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, bioengineering, or a related field. Previous experience in one or more of the following technical areas is required: human cell culture and characterization, three-dimensional cell culture, advanced microscopy, microfluidics and/or biomaterials. Must possess strong interpersonal and collaboration skills and the ability to contribute in a multidisciplinary team setting. Excellent oral and written communication skills required, as is the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. 


    We offer a creative and collaborative environment with several opportunities of communicating results to the scientific community through publications and presentations as well as mentoring students. The successful candidate will work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, collaborate closely with colleagues in Pediatrics at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and must be interested and motivated to learn techniques from a wide range of fields. Flexibility to pursue research in areas of interest, to apply for grants and fellowships, and to develop independent research directions is encouraged.
