  • Assistant Professors (TT) - Biomedical Engineering - Multiple Positions
    Biomedical Engineering
    University of Massachusetts Amherst

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the University of Massachusetts (https://bme.umass.edu) is embarking on a strategic hiring program enabled by additional investments from the UMass Institute for Applied Life Sciences (IALS). The BME Department is seeking candidates for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant professor level. Hires at the associate professor level may be considered based on qualifications. The positions are defined broadly to encompass the full scope of biomedical engineering. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to: devices, hardware, and instrumentation for biomedical applications; artificial intelligence (AI) applications in BME and biomedical imaging; biomedical engineering applications in women’s health. Benefiting from the university's strong history of both intra- and inter-departmental collaboration, as well as partnerships with the UMass Chan Medical School, our department is on a rapid ascent. The projected start date for these roles is September 1, 2026.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field or anticipate such a degree by August 31, 2026. Applicants must also demonstrate potential for scholarly excellence and developing an externally funded research program, and the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an internationally recognized scholarly presence. Candidates will also be expected to teach existing undergraduate and graduate courses in our curriculum in biomedical engineering, in addition to developing courses in their area of expertise. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applications should be received by November 15, 2025, to ensure full consideration. Applicants should submit PDF files that include a Cover Letter, Research Statement, Teaching Statement, Collaboration and Outreach Statement, Curriculum Vitae, and Contact Information for three professional references.
