Florida Atlantic University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science has launched a new Biomedical Engineering Department dedicated to training the next generation of engineers and scientists through a strong foundation in biology, engineering, and computer science applied to medicine. The department offers three undergraduate tracks in Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials, Bio Robotics, and Biomedical Devices and Smart Health, supported by state-of-the-art facilities including a Biomedical Engineering Laboratory, an ISO-8 clean room for micro-device fabrication, and a Bio Robotics Laboratory. Students benefit from hands-on learning, cutting-edge research with faculty funded by NIH, NSF, and FDOH, internship and co-op opportunities, a systems engineering capstone experience, and entrepreneurship resources through FAU’s ICORP program. The department also offers a unique 4+1 BS in Biomedical Engineering and MS in Artificial Intelligence pathway, preparing graduates for careers in research and development, medical school, advanced robotics, smart health technologies, and related fields.
