The Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department within the College of Engineering is recognized as a leader in providing a distinctive broad-based civil engineering education, grounded in Augustinian Catholic values and a commitment to service. The College strives to be widely acknowledged as a premier program known for our outstanding pedagogy and curricula, international opportunities, personal attention to students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and a commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion. The CEE Department has 19 full-time faculty members (13 tenure-track faculty and 6 teaching faculty), including 9 female faculty. There are approximately 220 undergraduate students and 125 graduate students enrolled in the B.S. (Civil Engineering), M.S. The CEE Department is highly committed to research and the pursuit of scholarship. Department faculty annually produce approximately $2M in research expenditures and collectively publish about 20 papers in refereed journals and another 20 in refereed conference proceedings and other venues each year. Scholarship is performed in a highly collaborative environment. CEE Faculty has multiple collaborations with departments and units across campus, including interdisciplinary efforts in the College of Nursing, the Department of Geography and Environment, and all departments within the College of Engineering. The CEE Department and College of Engineering have built excellent infrastructure to support scholarship, and laboratory facilities such as the Transportation Simulation Laboratory and GIS Laboratory are available for multi- and cross-disciplinary work.
