Professor in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor.

Located in the heart of Quebec City,  a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Université Laval is a major research university with over 45,000 students. The university has an international orientation and is recognized for its excellence in teaching and research.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Université Laval (www.gmn.ulaval.ca), invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering. The Department has a faculty of 16 professors. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering and Materials and Metallurgical Engineering to over 300 undergraduate students and more than 100 graduate students.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The sought field of expertise is in mining and mineral processing engineering. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the department and supervise graduate students at the MSc and PhD levels. The candidate is expected to develop sponsored and innovative research programs in the fields of mining and mineral processing engineering that complement the current strengths of our department.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree and a PhD in mining and mineral processing engineering or in a closely related field. The candidate will be a member (P. Eng.) of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (the Quebec Corporation of Engineers) or another Canadian order of engineers, or take the necessary steps to become a member within two years from assuming the post. As teaching activities are conducted in French, the selected candidate should be able to communicate and write in French or take the necessary steps to do so within three years of assuming the post. The successful candidate will meet the qualifications required for the position and will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Quality of the academic background;
  • Experience and potential in teaching mining and mineral processing engineering;
  • Achievements in the field of mining and mineral processing engineering;
  • Experience and potential in research, in technology transfer, and in scientific management;
  • Adequacy of qualifications and experience in relation to the description of the position;
  • Potential of integration and synergy with current faculty members;
  • Industrial experience and interest in field and laboratory work would be an asset.

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS 

Academic rank will be assessed in accordance with experience, and salary will be determined in accordance with the collective agreement in place at the time of hire.
