The University of Hawai'i at Manoa is a Carnegie R1 Doctoral University (Highest Research Activity) with a strong emphasis on research and graduate education. The Department offers the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and the B.S. degree in computer engineering. Both B.S. degree programs in electrical engineering and computer engineering are ABET accredited. Duties and Responsibilities
* To teach assigned undergraduate and graduate-level courses, including via distance delivery modes;
* To develop an extramurally funded research program;
* To conduct and publish research work in leading scholarly journals as a record of scholarly activity;
* To serve as chair or member of committees in charge of candidates for advanced degrees;
* To participate in curriculum development activities including the development of curricular materials and special instructional methods;
* To supervise independent study activities;
* To serve as academic advisor to students;
* To serve on department, college, and university committees;
* To render service to the professional or lay community which is relevant to the individual's academic specialty;
* To perform related tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
* An earned Ph.D. (ABD will be considered; degree must be earned before the date of hire) in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline from a university of recognized standing by the start date of the position;
* Demonstrated ability as a teacher;
* Demonstrated scholarly achievement, evidenced by a track record of publications;
* Excellent communication skills for meeting and conferring with others.

Desirable Qualifications
  1. Strong research record in computer security and privacy, data science and information security, computer and information systems, and related areas.
  2. Ideal candidates in the primary search area will also be able to leverage the existing areas of strength at UHM: computer network security, privacy, CPS/IoT, and wireless security. Quality of research thus far is an important consideration, as is potential for establishing an extramurally funded research program. Exceptional candidates in other areas of electrical and computer engineering are encouraged to apply as well.
