Civil and Environmental Engineering (CvEEN) is ideal for those with vision and analytic skills. Engineers are challenged to imagine new ways to support the needs of business, industry, public agencies, and nations. They innovatively conserve natural resources, create energy efficient systems, and integrate large structures into the natural environment

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Utah has one of the nation’s most rapidly growing departments and faculty. The courses our students take towards their ABET accredited Bachelors of Science degrees are designed to provide both applicable knowledge and a hands-on experience.

Students who enter our programs will take a selection of fundamental engineering  courses during their freshman and sophomore years. Upon entering the junior and senior year, students will have the opportunity to take courses that encompass the different areas within Civil, Construction and Nuclear Engineering (construction, environmental, geotechnical, materials, structures, transportation, and water resources) to provide them with the knowledge of different paths that can be pursued within our programs.
