Position Summary
Department Summary | Oregon Tech’s Oregon Renewable Energy Center (OREC) department is growing rapidly – both due to increasing projects and new opportunities to develop applied research programs. OREC is already one of the largest research institutes at Oregon Tech and currently offers 3 research projects involving a large number of undergraduate students from Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MMET) as well as Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy (EERE) departments at our 3 campuses in the Pacific Northwest. OREC has a dedicated lab space for OREC research projects as well as EERE Final Design Projects with a hands-on approach to learning for students. Our students are active in many competitions in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering as well as Renewable Energy, such as DOE Agrivoltaics, DOE Solar Prize Award, Formula SAE, Baja SAE and RoboSub; and many students take advantage of the internship opportunities offered through MECOP – a unique internship alliance driven collaboratively by Oregon’s engineering universities, their respective student bodies, and industry partners. Position Summary | The position is half administration (for OREC research projects and operations) and half research (publication, grant/funding proposal writing, etc.). The research part calls for an established scientist in the field of renewable energy engineering and closely related engineering/research fields. The OREC Lab Manager will report directly to the OREC Director. The OREC Lab Manager/Research Coordinator will spend approximately half of the time on management for the Oregon Renewable Energy Center (OREC) lab space and general operations, and the other half of the time on executing renewable energy research project development/grant drafting. |
