Ph.D. Position – Florida State University

The Environmental Thermo-Fluid Dynamics (ETFD) Lab (https://web1.eng.famu.fsu.edu/~nyaghoobian/) at Florida State University has open Ph.D. positions for Fall 2025/Spring 2026 to conduct fundamental computational research on turbulent flow dynamics, and mass and heat transport in environmental problems occurring at the Earth–atmosphere interface. Projects will involve interdisciplinary investigations of transport phenomena on the Earth’s surface and within the atmospheric boundary layer, with a focus on natural disasters (such as wildland fires).
Applicants with a master’s in mechanical engineering or other relevant disciplines with a background in computation and programming are encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications:
- -MS in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil) or other relevant fields
- -Strong academic record
- -Background and experience in computation and programming
- -Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- -Experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and physics-based modeling
- -Knowledge of high-performance computing
- -Previous research experience
