  • I am a fluid dynamicist and professor with 15+ years experience in CFD and turbulence modeling. Participated in and led CFD simulation projects to study turbulent/jet combustion systems, building aerodynamics, thermal equipment, wind and marine turbine aerodynamics, and vascular blood flow. In the last five years, I have published more than 25 papers in leading journals in fluid mechanics and turbulence and secured $750K in research funding. I have conducted research and supervised theses in leading universities in Europe, Asia and Africa. The current research focus for my work with Tohoku University is hemodynamic turbulence. I study the role of turbulence in the pathology of cerebral circulation. I design research plans, methodologies and data analysis architecture for DNS and LES CFD projects of brain aneurysms, Moyamoya disease, intracranial stenosis and endovascular devices. I also contribute to the design of in vitro platforms utilizing laser velocimetry (PIV, LDV, LDA).
Founding (2009) and present Editor-in-Chief of CFD Letters, a Scopus indexed specialized peer-reviewed journal published by Akademia Baru, Malaysia. In 2013, I co-founded the Research Center for Computational Neurovascular Biomechanics (RCCNB) with Professor Tamer Hassan of Alexandria University, Egypt. In 2018, I was awarded the affiliation of the African Academy of Sciences that is granted to recognize the scientific achievements of young scientists from African countries. In the last five years, I have chaired and co-chaired scientific sessions in international conferences in Japan, Egypt and Malaysia. I have delivered invited keynote lectures in ICFD2017 and ICFD2018 in Japan.
