Dr. Claire Silverstein’s research interests include driver behavior modeling, traffic flow theory, transportation safety, intelligent transportation systems, and connected and automated vehicles. Her current research is focused on: collecting and utilizing traffic data from maintained libraries and driving simulators to calibrate and validate microscopic traffic models; using various probability and statistical models for better traffic incident prediction; and modeling streams of human-driven vehicles and automated vehicles during a wide variety of traffic states to improve upon safety and congestion.
