Dr. Hector Erives research interests are remote sensing, computer vision, machine learning control (intelligent control systems), biomedical imaging, and acoustic localization methodologies. He has more than twelve years of academic experience, and over ten years of industry experience as a staff scientist, lead instrumentation engineer, and senior software engineer in cradle-to-grave image acquisition, data processing, and delivery of remote sensing products. He has been a consultant for the USDA as an instructor on the processing of remote sensed imagery, and development of an automated image registration method. He has been a collaborator with New Mexico Tech on a NSF funded project to develop an acoustic-based technique for locating lightning events in central New Mexico and Southern Colorado.
