Dr. Torres-Rua’s is focused on agricultural water management from a spatial perspective. Therefore, his main efforts are in the technology, applications and approaches of remote sensing for agriculture and water. In technology, using ground, UAVs and satellite combined technologies and data is necessary to validate, harmonize and enhance agricultural information. In applications, estimation and forecasting of water balance components and biotic stressors occurrence are the base for providing answers to end user’s information needs. And lastly, in approaches, physical, data-driven, and hybrid solutions are needed, due to weather and climate patterns, variability of crops and soils, and human management interactions.
