The Peter Ma Lab focuses on polymeric biomaterials: 1) Nano-featured biomaterials including nanoparticles, nanofibers, porous materials, hydrogels, and nano/micro patterns; 2) Novel biodegradable polymer synthesis, self-assembly, phase-separation, micro-fabrication, 3D printing and the micro-/nano-structural characterization; 3) Biomaterials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, especially how stem cells interact with nano/micro-featured biomaterials; 4) Controlled release systems for biomolecule and drug delivery application.
The research in Ma Lab is highly interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary in nature, spanning through polymer chemistry, polymer physics, polymer processing, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, stem cells and regenerative medicine. The Lab members come from various backgrounds such as biomedical engineering, materials science and engineering, macromolecular science and engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, biology, life science, pharmaceutical science, orthopedic surgery, dental surgery etc.
