Dr. Kougioumtzoglou’s primary research interests focus on the general area of mathematical modeling and dynamics of complex structural/mechanical systems with emphasis on uncertainty quantification aspects. Systems exhibiting nonlinear/hysteretic behavior and/or exposed to hazard/risk inducing conditions are of particular interest. Specifically, the development of numerical and/or analytical techniques for computational stochastic mechanics, nonlinear stochastic dynamics, and signal processing applications constitutes one of the main research themes. Indicative diverse applications in Civil / Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics include the nonlinear response determination and risk/reliability assessment of engineering systems/structures, as well as the joint time/space-frequency analysis and spectral estimation under limited data.
