Assistant/Associate Professor, Civil Engineering

Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering at the Schaefer School of Engineering and Science, at Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, starting on August 16, 2018 or later.

Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a related discipline in all fields of Civil Engineering that complements and augments existing expertise in the focus areas of Stevens’ strategic plan. Examples of research areas include, but not limited to Structures, Hydraulics and Hydrology. The structural candidate must be an expert in one of the following areas: advanced materials (steel, cementitious, geotechnical, or composite materials), sustainable/smart/adaptable structures subject to extreme loading, or structural health monitoring. The hydraulics candidate must be an expert in, surface hydraulic interactions, fluid mechanics, hydraulics and hydrology, hydrologic effects of climate change, modeling of hydro-systems, sustainable design, resilient infrastructure and coupled air/sea/hydrology modeling.

Successful applicants are expected to develop a strong externally funded, globally recognized research program. They should also possess a passion for and be committed to excellence in both graduate and undergraduate education in the highly interdisciplinary, collaborative, diverse, innovative, and entrepreneurial culture at Stevens.
