A post-doctoral research position is available in the Biomedical Ultrasound Laboratory of Professor Paul Dayton at UNC Chapel Hill. This position will support research in novel biomedical imaging techniques and targeted therapeutics, largely in oncology applications. Tasks will include imaging system design, testing, and applications, image and signal processing, and implementation in both pre-clinical and clinical environments.

The Dayton lab is uniquely positioned in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering bridging UNC Chapel Hill and NC State University, and actively collaborates with clinicians, pharmacists, and industry in basic science, pre-clinical, and translational research.

UNC Chapel Hill is an exciting place to perform biomedical ultrasound research. The "triangle" formed between UNC, Duke, and NCSU has one of the greatest concentrations of ultrasound research labs in the country, which provides outstanding opportunities for broad collaborations. Our UNC-NC State Ultrasound Consortium is a team of 7 faculty working on the development of new ultrasound technologies, and provides an immense base of expertise, equipment, and training opportunities. The resources of the UNC Biomedical Research Imaging Center, the UNC School of Pharmacy, the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine provide powerful opportunities for imaging faculty to develop translational projects.

Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering, Physics, Acoustics, Optics, or a related field. This position will involve working with a team as well as preparing papers, reports, and contributing to grants, and thus excellent writing and communication skills are required. Essential research skills will include programming, MATLAB, and working with electronics such as waveform generators and oscilloscopes.
