    The Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering, ae.gatech.edu at Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for non-tenure track Professor of the Practice positions. Individuals are sought across the wide range of aerospace engineering disciplines including structures, fluids, thermodynamics, dynamics and controls. Expertise in computational and experimental methods are also valuable.   Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

    About the School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology


    For more than two decades, the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering has consistently ranked among the nation’s top 5 aerospace engineering programs, attracting aspiring engineers to pursue their academic journeys at the Atlanta campus.  With an esteemed faculty of more than 40 tenured-track professors and a thriving student body of over 2,000 individuals, the school is uniquely positioned to offer a comprehensive and hands-on approach to research, scholarship, and education, spanning fixed-wing aircraft, rotorcraft, ad space domains.


     JOB SUMMARY


    Professors of the Practice are non-tenure track faculty members whose specific focus is on teaching and instruction. This position includes teaching and student mentoring, with an emphasis on enhancing the education mission of the School.


     Job Responsibilities



    • Teaching and student mentoring, with an emphasis on enhancing the teaching mission of the School. 

    • Teaching 2-3 courses per semester



    • Will serve as liaisons between industry or government and the Institute in identifying teaching and research opportunities that support the public interest and societal needs. 

    • May be expected (depending on circumstances of their appointment) to generate financial resources to support and enhance the Institute programs in which they work. 



    • Service on education committees

    • Advising/mentoring undergraduate students

    REQUIRED QUALFICATIONS


    Minimum Education/Experience Qualifications


    Have substantial bases of experience, normally at least ten (10) to fifteen (15) years, and a national/international reputation for excellence. 


    Have rich and extensive backgrounds in fields and disciplines related to the school or college of appointment at the Institute 


    Preferred Qualifications


    Ideal candidates will have evidence-of or potential-for exceptional course design and instruction, with emphasis on bringing to bear their experience and passion into the classroom. 


    Individuals are sought across the wide range of aerospace engineering disciplines including structures, fluids, thermodynamics, dynamics and controls. Expertise in computational and experimental methods also is valuable.
