We are actively recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate or Research Scientist in the School of Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy (https://semte.engineering.asu.edu/) and the Center for Bioelectronics & Biosensors in the Biodesign Institute (https://biodesign.asu.edu/bioelectronics-and-biosensors) at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. Successful candidates will contribute to a dynamic multi-disciplinary team that is undertaking investigations on development, testing, and translation of new proprietary medical biosensing devices from the laboratory to the clinic.
The hire will work closely with engineers, chemists, material scientists from ASU and doctors from the Mayo Clinic Arizona. Specific job activities include – but are not be limited to – the development of and connection of biomedical sensors to existing medical equipment, development of firmware for device control, and testing of the device in studies. It is expected that the candidate will have experience in microfluidics. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills as well as the ability to communicate with people from a variety of different professional backgrounds. In addition to research activities, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students, report preparation, proposal writing, and other activities as part of her/his training.
Required qualifications for this position are a Ph.D., or Masters with industry experience, in electrical engineering, computer science or engineering, mechanotronics, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with hardware, software, and firmware development of electro-mechanical devices. Hands-on experimental skills, familiarity with electronics and electromechanical components (particularly in the control and handling of fluids), knowledge of iOS App development, Xcode, C, SolidWorks/Autocad or equivalent are necessary.
The position is available immediately, for an initial duration of one year, with possibility of renewal, depending on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
