The Florida A&M - Florida State University (FAMU-FSU) College of Engineering and the Panama City Campus of FSU invite applications for a teaching faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at FSU Panama City as part of our ABET-accredited, Mechanical Engineering program.

The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering was established as a joint program serving two universities, Florida A & M University and Florida State University, located in Tallahassee, Florida.

The College is a leading academic institution with excellent records of achievement in education, research and public service. It offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.) programs in chemical, civil, computer, electrical, industrial and mechanical engineering as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs. The College has attracted an outstanding faculty from all over the world. Thousands of young, intelligent, and self-motivated men and women have attended the College in the last four decades, receiving over 5000 degrees. These graduates are a diverse group of engineers, from many races, ethnicities, and nationalities.

Responsibilities
The position is a 9- or 12-month, full-time, specialized, non-tenure track teaching faculty position with opportunities for promotion and multi-year contracts. Primary responsibilities will be: teaching undergraduate (and possibly graduate) courses (with potential for distance learning courses) in Mechanical Engineering, recruiting, mentoring, and advising students; serving on committees and other service to the program/campus. There is potential for engagement in research and scholarly activity if circumstances allow. This position is expected to begin in January 2023. Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (ME) or closely related field. ABD’s will be considered. The area of interest is ME Dynamics, Control, Mechatronics and related fields however candidates in other ME areas of expertise with experience in teaching courses in these fields will also be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong commitment to high-quality teaching, primarily though not exclusively, at the undergraduate level, service to the department and campus, and outreach activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to motivate and inspire students are essential. Preference may be given to candidates with a strong collegiate teaching track record and to those with industry and/or research experience.
