Summary of Position

Applications are being accepted for a Postdoctoral Fellow (Postdoc) position supported via the NIH T32 program in the Dr. Jinho Kim’s Translational Lung Bioengineering Laboratory at Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens). The Postdoc will participate in cutting-edge research that focuses on bioengineering of lung tissue and work closely with an interdisciplinary research team that consists of leading biomedical engineers, clinicians, and pulmonary scientists at Stevens and Columbia University. Specifically, a successful candidate will create translational bioengineering methodologies and tools that can promote functional recovery of defective lung tissues by utilizing an integrated multi-disciplinary approach, combining regenerative medicine, biomechanics, and bioinstrumentation. This position can start in July 2022 and will be funded for two years through the NIH T32 Training Grant.

 

Responsibilities

- The primary function of the Postdoc Fellow is to conduct basic and translational research that centers around functional regeneration of defective lung tissues. 

- Additionally, the Postdoc Fellow will participate in grant proposal writing, supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and publish and present research findings.

 

Qualifications

- To be eligible for the NIH T32 program, the candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident.

- The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or related field.

- An ideal candidate will have extensive research experience in tissue engineering, biomechanics, mechanobiology, or bioinstrumentation.

- Candidates should be highly motivated and interested in working in an interdisciplinary research environment.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
