As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.
You will be working with a team of researchers in the Future Communications Translation Lab (FCTL) in driving innovation and applied research in 5G use cases and applications.
As a software solution, your responsibility is to propose solutions for 5G use cases and applications that will address our customers’ problem statements and demonstrate the benefits of 5G technology. You are also required to oversee the development of the use case and applications through in-house, collaboration or outsourcing methods.
Key Responsibilities
Propose system solutions for 5G users by designing the system and software architecture and selection of hardware. The system can be large one that communicate with multiple different devices and it can also be a standalone 5G embedded system.
Translate output from FCTlab 5G research output into proof of concept for practical applications and use cases.
You are to lead the design, development, and test of 5G prototype systems. The focus is on the software development as the hardware is expected to be outsourced. You are expected to perform some of the coding and testing.
Write proposals for research collaborations and feasibility studies.
Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
Outsource development work to vendor by setting the requirements and managing the quality of the deliverables
Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
Job Requirements
At least 2-5 years experience as a software architect and software developer in the relevant field.
Strong software design and programming skills in C++ and python .
Familiar with various wireless communication technologies and networking concepts, especially in LTE/5G lower layers specifications comprising of physical layer and the layer 2 protocols.
Good understanding of Linux OS and RTOS concepts
Hands-on experience with hardware and software integration, video streaming, and interfacing with sensors and actuators.
Proficient with debugging tools like Wireshark.
Have a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or computer science.
Knowledge of machine learning and ROS will be advantageous.
