Position Overview:
PhD Position: Graduate research scholarship in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Tennessee Tech University, Cookeville, TN, USA is open for hiring immediately.
The candidate should have a background in at least two of the following topics:
- Electric vehicle modelling in smart grid (mobility modelling, demand response etc.);
- Power system analysis (optimal/stochastic power flow analysis, economic dispatch, etc.);
- Stochastic process (Markov chain, queueing theory, etc.);
- Optimization techniques (convex, NLP, MINLP, etc.);
- Machine learning techniques (neural networks, reinforcement learning, federated learning etc.).

Bio of Dr. Nan Chen:
Nan Chen (M’20) received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada in 2019. From Oct. 2019 to Feb. 2020, she worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Broadband Communication Research (BBCR) group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, supervised by Prof. Xuemin (Sherman) Shen. She joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Tennessee Tech University as a tenure-track assistant professor in Spring, 2021. Her current research interests include electric vehicle charging/discharging scheme design in smart grid, next-generation wireless networks, and machine learning application in vehicular cyber-physical systems.
