The Frank Batten College of Engineering & Technology (BCET) at Old Dominion University (ODU) invites applications for a Lecturer and Director of the Monarch Accelerator Program to Engineering (MAP2E). This is an annual 12-month appointment beginning in Fall 2024. The MAP2E is a scholar cohort accelerator program being designed to launch in the fall of 2024 for students who enroll in the Batten College of Engineering & Technology and place below the required math class for first year students in our engineering and engineering technology majors. Students in this program will be enrolled in an impact learning community, which will include supplemental instruction for key courses and facilitated study groups. Students will also participate in a summer transition program and other programmatic activities.
The successful candidate will teach first year classes in the Engineering Fundamentals division, including classes designed for the MAP2E cohort. They will also direct and coordinate all components of programming involved in the MAP2E program including (but not limited to):
- planning and implementing the summer transition program,
- coordinating with the university impact learning community staff,
- planning supplemental instruction,
- hiring, training, and managing tutors,
- planning and implementing enrichment programs,
- mentoring and advising cohort students, and
- collecting and analyzing data related to cohort and programmatic success.
