The Laboratory for Prof. Chen is seeking an Associate Research Scientist (ARS) to participate in scientific discoveries in the field of carbon dioxide mitigation and catalysts. The ARS will design and lead research projects that fit into the lab’s research mission, prepare research papers and present results at conferences and meetings, participate in the supervision of trainees, help raise research funds, and overall participate in all tasks of the lab function. The research in the Chen lab is in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The ARS will perform kinetic studies using reactors and characterize catalysts using synchrotron techniques. The ARS will study model surfaces to gain a fundamental understanding of sustainable, industrially-relevant reactions in themocatalysis and electrocatalysis.
Candidate should be specialized in catalysts and carbon dioxide mitigation with a working knowledge of the synchrotron techniques and kinetic studies using reactors. The ARS should have a PhD in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with 3 or more years of postdoctoral experience working in an academic research lab.
