Electrical and Computer Engineering Teaching Lab Manager
Position Category: Staff - Full-Time
Develops and implements laboratory policies and standard operating procedures, and procedures. Responsible for laboratory experiment set up, clean up, proper chemical handling, and security of chemicals. Responsible for training and supervising student assistants in laboratory preparation. Responsible for instructing others, including students, student assistants, other pertinent employees, and faculty in the use of experiment laboratory equipment and apparatus, including implementation and enforcement of safety programs in conjunction with the safety officer. Designs and develops teaching aids and demonstrations for use in laboratories and lectures. Implements suggested lab and experiment modifications. Maintains inventory of equipment, parts, supplies, and chemicals (including SDSs) used in laboratories. Instructs laboratory or other courses up to 50% FTE, as assigned by the department chair. Organizes the recruitment activities for the programs by setting up labs and tables. Renews the software licenses. Installs and maintains the software in the labs.
A Bachelor degree from an accredited university in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of laboratory equipment protocols and procedures.
Knowledge of Electronics, Digital Design and Circuit Theory and VLSI Design.
Knowledge of Control Systems.
Knowledge of Electromagnetic Field Theory.
Knowledge of OSHA Regulations.
Knowledge of Power Systems and Embedded Systems.
Skills in installation, configuration, and maintenance of engineering software.
Familiarity with Cadence Design System and Altera Design Tool.
Skills in computer programming languages (C, C#, C++, JAVA, )
Skills with electric motorized hans tools and equipment.
Skills in maintaining and repairing lab instruments.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Ability to utilize, calibrate, configure and/or troubleshoot laboratory testing systems and instruments.
Ability to provide technical guidance and training to end users.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Ability to lift 55 lbs repeatedly.
Masters degree from an accredited univresity in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology
Requires ability to lift up to 55 lbs repeatedly, hearing, seeing, speaking, standing, walking, bending and fine hand manipulation.
