The Biomedical Engineering Program in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at West Virginia University (WVU) is soliciting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor starting Fall 2021. WVU provides strong support for the research work of its faculty, including start-up funds, renovated laboratory space and access to state-of-the-art core facilities. There are extensive opportunities for collaboration both within the University and with neighboring institutions.

Candidates must hold a PhD in biomedical engineering or related discipline at the time of application and have research expertise in one or more of the following areas: Rehabilitation Engineering, Prosthetics, Immunoengineering (cancer-targeted therapeutics), and Precision Medicine. Candidates must have a sustainable record of scholarly research as demonstrated by the ability to publish in established national and international peer-reviewed journals, as well as, teaching and mentoring experience. The duties of this position include: (1) developing and sustaining an externally-funded research programs leading to national and international recognition; (2) teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and other research personnel in the area of biomedical engineering; (3) performing service activities commensurate with the position; and (4) collaborating with other researchers in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Sciences and at the WVU Health Sciences Center/ School of Medicine or Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute to establish an interdisciplinary research program.

West Virginia University is a comprehensive land-grant institution in Morgantown, WV, with an enrollment of over 29,000 students, with Carnegie Classification -R1: Doctoral Universities Highest Research Activity. The Statler College has seven academic departments, over 4,200 students, and 135 faculty members, with about $30M in annual external research expenditures. The Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering has 14 faculty members and approximately 240 undergraduate and 60 graduate students. The Department offers degrees at the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. levels. The Biomedical Engineering program has eight participating faculty from several departments including Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science and Electrical Engineering as well as several adjunct faculty in other colleges at WVU.

Morgantown and vicinity have a diverse population of about 62,000 residents and is ranked highly among the most livable small cities in the country.
