The Department of Aerospace Engineering at Auburn University invites applications for a non-tenure-track Lecturer position. The primary responsibility for this position will be teaching a selection of undergraduate courses in the field of aerospace engineering, such as aerodynamics, aerospace design, aerospace systems and controls, flight dynamics, structures, orbital mechanics, and propulsion. The teaching of general engineering courses relevant to aerospace engineering, such as statics and dynamics, is also anticipated.

The successful candidate will bring experience, innovation, enthusiasm, technology, and leadership to the courses. Under typical circumstances, the teaching load will be three courses per semester, which includes course and laboratory development and management activities. In addition to instructional duties, successful candidates will contribute to the instructional mission of the department through participation on faculty committees and be expected to mentor students through possible participation in student
organizations, competition activities, and other mentoring and knowledge enhancement opportunities. The appointment will be for nine months and is renewable annually. Additional teaching opportunities in the summer may also be available and are subject to the availability of funds.

Successful applicants must possess a doctorate in aerospace engineering or a closely related field from an ABET accredited institution prior to the date of employment. Exceptionally well qualified candidates possessing a master’s degree and highly relevant work experience in areas such as computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, or autonomous flight controls will also be considered for related teaching positions. We seek candidates with already demonstrated effectiveness in working with aerospace engineering students and professionals. The candidate must also have excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills. The candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the U.S. at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

To be considered, qualified candidates must submit a cover letter, resume, transcripts, statement of teaching philosophy and interests, student course evaluations (if available), and contact information of three references to the chair of the search committee, Dr. Russell Mailen at rwm0028@auburn.edu.

Review of application materials will begin on June 23, 2025 and will continue until a qualified candidate is recommended for appointment.
