Assistant Professor of Engineering (Computer Science)

R.B. Annis School of Engineering

University of Indianapolis

During the 2016-2017 academic year, the University of Indianapolis (Ulndy) launched innovative and systems-based design-centric engineering programs in the high-demand fields of industrial and systems engineering, mechanical engineering, and software engineering. The following academic year, the computer science program joined the School. The programs in the R.B. Annis School of Engineering have a strong liberal arts core and focus on four principles: creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and social responsibility.

Another hallmark of the engineering programs is the DesignSpine, which provides students with interdisciplinary system-based design experiences throughout their entire academic tenure by solving challenges from external stakeholders. Also, these experiences emphasize soft skills in communication and organization along with project management skills. For more information, please visit:

The R.B. Annis School of Engineering seeks a candidate, for the computer science program, whose experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion. The primary criterion for this position is exceptional teaching quality in a small-class setting. The position is tenure-track at the rank of assistant professor and on a nine-month contract with an expected start date of August 2018.

Responsibilities will include teaching computer science courses in an integrated classroom/laboratory setting at the undergraduate level in areas of introduction to programming, data structures and algorithms, database systems, network and distributed computing, introduction to software engineering, operating systems, software validation and testing, software architecture, and software project management. This individual will also develop and practice teaching strategies that actively engage students both inside and outside the classroom, and prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.

Qualifications: Candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science, or an equivalent degree by the time of appointment.

For full consideration, please submit your application by March 16, 2018.
