Assistant Teaching Professor - Plastics Engineering

The Department of Plastics Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a full-time position as a Teaching Professor. Successful applicants will collaborate with existing faculty members, advise and recruit students, teach classes to support the undergraduate and graduate programs, and develop new courses in the following areas:
Polymer Materials: polymer chemistry and synthesis; material selection; process-structure-property interactions; polymer modifiers, additives, and blends; polymer characterization; and constitutive modeling of polymers.
In addition to teaching high-quality courses, Teaching Professors are also expected to provide service to the university and department. Successful candidates will be expected to begin work in September 2020, and assist in teaching a range of Plastics Engineering courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

About the Department of Plastics Engineering:

Located 25 miles northwest of Boston, Massachusetts, the internationally recognized Department of Plastics Engineering is the largest ABET accredited plastics program in the United States. The department has approximately 200 undergraduate students and nearly 100 graduate students. An optional co-op program is available to undergraduate and graduate students. Minimum Qualifications:
•     Earned doctorate in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science, or a closely related area
•     Commitment to quality teaching
•     Strong communications skills
•     The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
•     Record of successful teaching experience at the college level

Additional Information:
This position is renewable annually, potentially leading to an appointment as Associate Teaching Professor following six consecutive years of outstanding performance evaluations, and subsequent promotion to Full Teaching Professor after additional years of outstanding performance.
