The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at Wayne State University (WSU) seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, although exceptional candidates at a higher rank are also invited to apply. Applicants should have a PhD in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline, a record of excellence in research, and a commitment to teaching and working with a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students. Successful candidates are expected to develop a federally funded research program that is nationally and internationally recognized, as well as demonstrate excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
While candidates in all research areas will be considered, the department is particularly interested in candidates whose research is mathematical/computational based, including data science. Current research strengths of the department include biomaterials, catalysis, energy storage, molecular modeling, process control, and process systems engineering.
