The Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Centre invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the area of Soft Matter. The successful candidate will be expected to work on the design and engineering of advanced microparticle-based pharmaceutical drug products comprising soft (polymer/hydrogel) matrices containing crystalline drug particles, typically made using microfluidic methods. The study and delineation of the phase behavior of complex multicomponent mixtures of polymers and drug molecules within small droplets will be of particular interest. This work will be conducted in close collaboration with a consortium of pharmaceutical companies (GSK, Merck and Pfizer). He/she will be reporting to Prof. Patrick S. Doyle (MIT, SMART) and Prof Saif A. Khan (NUS, SMART) and work with their team of researchers and collaborators.
Candidates with an earned or soon-to-be-earned doctoral degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Materials Engineering, Physics and related disciplines will be considered, provided their research track record is in the broad areas of soft matter, microfluidics, materials characterization and related disciplines. Ideally the successful candidate should be able to be involved and/or supervise more junior researchers in all aspects of research.
