Postdoc position in investigating the protecting mechanism of a soybean-based protectant for cementitious materials exposed to deicing salts at Drexel University
Advanced and Sustainable Infrastructure Materials Laboratory (ASIM lab) is seeking for an outstanding candidate for an open postdoctoral position starting Winter 2021. Special emphasis is placed on recruiting candidate with a Ph.D. in materials science, civil engineering, chemical engineering, or related fields. Focus is placed on candidates with a demonstrated expertise in materials characterization using experimental and analytical techniques.
The successful candidate will work on applying advanced characterization techniques to understand the protecting mechanism of soy methyl ester-polystyrene (SME-PS) on cementitious materials exposed to deicing salts. Methods of interest include: (i) isothermal calorimetry analysis of cementitious materials (ii) protecting performance evaluation of SME-PS (iii) and microstructural characterization to develop a model for SME-PS protection in cementitious materials.
The candidate will work in the group of Professor Farnam, in a strong collaborative environment with other professors in CAEE, MSE, and MEM departments and students at ASIM lab. More information can be found at: http://www.asim-lab.com/
