The Laboratory for Low-Carbon Energy and Environmental Sustainability in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Wyoming (UW) now has one postdoctoral research associate position in Hydrogen Transportation Infrastructure (Job No. 233766).

The Laboratory for Low-Carbon Energy and Environmental Sustainability promotes a long-term vision for the role of both technology and policy to cope with complex energy, environmental and natural resource challenges. The laboratory conducts systems research that addresses technical, economic, and policy issues related to energy and the environment. Current interests of research mainly include low-carbon energy systems, hydrogen energy, carbon capture and storage, and the energy-water nexus under carbon constraints for climate change mitigation. The laboratory pioneers the development of the Integrated Environmental Control Model, a computer tool used worldwide for power plant modeling and assessment. The principal investigator is Dr. Haibo Zhai, a Professor of Environmental Engineering and the Roy & Caryl Cline Distinguished Chair in Engineering.

The laboratory is hiring a postdoctoral research associate to work on a new hydrogen project. This project will develop a multi-scale computing framework for advancing hydrogen transportation infrastructure in support of the development of a regional hydrogen hub. The postdoctoral fellow to be recruited will develop an optimization framework to guide the design of a hydrogen supply network that links potential hydrogen production facilities, transmission pipeline corridors, and hydrogen distribution stations. The postdoctoral fellow will also need to prepare progress reports, present research results at conferences, and publish work in peer-reviewed journals.

A doctoral degree in civil engineering, infrastructure optimization, or infrastructure-related disciplines is required for this position. The applicants with expertise on pipeline network design, systems optimization, and techno-economic analysis are strongly encouraged. Please complete the online application and upload the following for a complete application: cover letter, resume, and contact information for four work-related references.
