Assistant Professor of Engineering - Robotics and Mechatronics
Requisition No. 0000758 Job Description Summary
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Oakland University (OU) invites applicants for two positions in the areas of robotics and/or mechatronics: 1) a tenure-track Assistant Professor and 2) a visiting Assistant Professor starting in August 2025. The ECE Department has 22 full-time faculty members and offers a range of academic programs, including BSE, MS, and Ph.D. degrees. Our offerings include a well-established Master's program in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering, a newly launched undergraduate degree in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering, and research facilities. Faculty and students collaborate on research in robotics and mechatronics, including areas such as human-robot interaction, industrial robotics, autonomous vehicles, machine vision, intelligent robotics and control, social and service robotics, digital twins, and VR/AR applications to robotics.
Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related fields. ABD will be considered. Research and teaching with a commitment to excellence is required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratories, initiate and integrate strong research programs, direct graduate students, and attract external research funding. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related fields. ABD will be considered.
