One PhD position is available in the ICON (Intelligent Control Of Networked multi-agent systems) Lab., Department of Mechanical Engineering at New Mexico Tech University. The research lies in the areas of robotics, control, and optimization. Strong background in mathematics and control theory is a big plus. The students will assist the PI, Dr. Kooktae Lee, in the following topics:
a) fundamental theoretic research on multi-agent systems.
b) development of efficient multi-robot exploration scheme for search, surveillance, and monitoring
c) conducting simulations for verification mainly using MATLAB software
More information about the research project can be found at https://sites.google.com/view/kooktaelee
A student involved in this project will be fully supported by an RA position through the NASA Award and/or by a TA position. Anticipated start date is from Spring, 2021 even though the candidate may start the work from Fall 2020, if processed within the time. Considering the limited time for the VISA process, a student currently staying in the U.S. is preferable.
