The Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering (MAE) Department of the Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering at Clarkson University invites applications for two tenure track positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank (starting date: July 2020 or earlier). Clarkson’s MAE Department currently offers B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering, and is expanding to offer a degree in Aerospace Engineering.
One opening is in Aerospace Engineering. A Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or related area is required. A second position is in Manufacturing/Materials Engineering. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related area is required. For the position, applications are sought from individuals with a research focus on manufacturing or materials. Candidates specializing in additive manufacturing and digital fabrication, who incorporate novel aspects of design and analysis with additive manufacturing, such as advanced materials development, materials post-processing, topology optimization, functional lattice design, multi-material printing, voxel-based printing, design-fabrication integration, and related areas are preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to teach fundamental undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical and aerospace engineering and develop strong externally funded research programs. Applicants should articulate a clear and substantiated vision of how their background can lead to sustained accomplishments through teaching, research, and an ability to engage in interdisciplinary activities and projects within one of the areas identified above.
