The Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering (http://www.cege.fau.edu) at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-earning Assistant Professor position in the general area of Civil Infrastructure and Materials Engineering. The department is particularly interested in candidates whose research strengthens one or more of the following areas: sustainable and resilient civil infrastructure systems, advanced and innovative construction materials, geotechnical and pavement engineering, structural materials behavior, durability and life-cycle performance of infrastructure, and smart sensing or data-driven methods for infrastructure monitoring and management. Candidates whose work integrates resilience, sustainability, or emerging technologies to advance next-generation infrastructure solutions are especially encouraged to apply.

The Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering (CEGE) hosts 3 ABET-accredited undergraduate programs, a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Transportation and Environmental Engineering with about 400 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. The faculty is highly interdisciplinary and conducts research primarily in the broad thematic areas of Urban Mobility, Infrastructure, and Sustainability/Resilience. The Department has three research centers: the Center for Infrastructure and Constructed Facilities (fau.edu/engineering/cege/research/cicf/), the Center for Water Resiliency and Risk Reduction (cwr3.fau.edu), and the Freight Mobility Research Institute (fmri.fau.edu).  

The FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science is in the top three fastest progressing engineering colleges in the nation (US News and World Report Rankings 2020-2022). The college offers degrees with a modern twist that bear specializations in areas of national priority such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, internet-of-things, transportation and supply chain management, and data science.
