The Opportunity
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applicants for a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure earning lecturer or associate lecturer position with an anticipated start date of August 8, 2025. The primary responsibility of the position is teaching undergraduate courses related to electrical analogue and digital circuits, semiconductor device modeling and fabrication, and embedded systems to ECE students as well as overseeing the new internship-for-credit initiative (EGN 4941) for the department.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports students from diverse academic and personal backgrounds. Responsibilities include delivering undergraduate courses, collaborating with ECE faculty to design, update, or enhance Undergraduate Teaching Laboratories and curricula, and, on occasion, teaching graduate-level courses.
ECE has strong educational programs, with over 200 graduate students and 1,500 undergraduates, and state-of-the-art facilities, the L3Harris Engineering Center, and Interdisciplinary Research 1 Building. Located in Orlando, UCF and ECE are at the center of Florida High Tech Corridor with an excellent industrial base in telecommunications, energy, computer systems, semiconductors, defense, space, laser, simulation, and software industries, as well as the world-renowned entertainment/theme park industry. Minimum Qualifications:
A doctoral degree from an accredited institution in an area appropriate to electrical and computer engineering disciplines..
For consideration at the associate lecturer rank, candidates must hold a doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. Additionally, candidates must meet one of the following criteria: (1) a minimum of 3 years of experience as an associate lecturer at a four-year institution or (2) at least 10 years of relevant industry experience in a field closely aligned with the department’s mission.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with prior university-level teaching experience and/or relevant industry experience that aligns with and enhances the department’s mission of preparing work-ready graduates.
