
The General Engineering Department at Clemson University invites applications for the position of Lecturer to begin in the fall of 2026. Candidates should have a passion for teaching fundamental mathematical and physical concepts to first year engineering students. Experience using Python or a similar programming language is required. Experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD is desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate a dedication to inclusive excellence in higher education and a commitment to teaching and mentoring beginning engineering students.
The General Engineering Department offers a common first-year engineering program and serves as the gateway to the engineering majors. The department seeks to attract faculty of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application, and integration of knowledge. Classes in General Engineering are taught in the SCALE-UP active learning environment.
As such, the successful candidate must have the communication skills and energy to motivate students in large classes in a dynamic, interactive environment. Additionally, lecturers are expected to work in close collaboration with other faculty members in the department to ensure consistent and coordinated instruction, grading, and assessment of learning outcomes.
Qualifications
Candidates must have at least a Master’s degree in a recognized engineering discipline, and an undergraduate engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program, however a PhD in an engineering discipline is strongly preferred.
