The Laksari Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California Riverside is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral candidate to work on translational projects at the intersection of biomechanics and stroke. We aim to use a combination of engineering methods, medical imaging, and machine learning to better understand the mechanisms of ischemic stroke and develop diagnostic and interventional approaches.
An important component of this position will be to work as part of an interdisciplinary team spanning engineering, neurology, and the school of medicine. The successful candidate will be required to lead independent research projects, work closely with our medical collaborators, mentor students, and publish high-quality research each year. The position is available to start immediately, initially for 2 years with the possibility of renewal for longer.
Required qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong engineering and experimental background.
- Experience in medical image processing and computational simulations.
- Strong publication track record.
- Strong written and oral English communication skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Expertise in brain imaging.
- Experience in finite element and biomechanical modeling.
- Experience in collecting medical imaging data.
