Job Details:

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Software Engineering, Tenure Track

The Mercer University School of Engineering (MUSE) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Software Engineering, starting August 2023. The School provides Master’s Degrees in Software Engineering (SSE), Software Systems (SSE), and Cyber-Security (CYS).

 

Responsibilities:

Candidates are sought to enhance the Department’s focus on emerging technologies in Software Engineering, particularly with expertise, scholarly interest, and an excellent capacity for teaching and research in all areas within Software Engineering such as software design and construction, requirements analysis, security, verification and validation, and software engineering processes are of interest.

 

Qualifications:

A minimum of an earned Ph.D. in Software Engineering, Computer Science with an emphasis in Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering with an emphasis in Software Engineering is required (or evidence that the Ph.D. will be complete by August 2023). Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college level and consulting or industrial experience. Experience with professional organizations such as ABET, ASEE, IEEE, etc. is highly desirable.

 

The successful candidate for the position must be able and willing to teach software engineering courses at the graduate level and occasionally at the undergraduate level as necessary. Tenure will be based on excellent teaching, research, scholarly publications and service work.

 

Additional Information:

Mercer’s undergraduate engineering program is ABET/EAC accredited using a core curriculum model. The School of Engineering offers both Bachelor and Master of Science in Engineering degrees with specializations in biomedical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, industrial, and mechanical as well as engineering related programs in cyber systems, technical communications and industrial management. The undergraduate curriculum is dynamic, innovative, broadly based, and includes the option of an integrated BSE/MSE degree program for qualified candidates. Total engineering enrollment is over 750 students.

 

Mercer University is a private and comprehensive university and includes the Mercer Engineering Research Center in nearby Warner Robins, GA. The metropolitan Macon area, located 90 miles south of Atlanta, has a population of 250,000 and enjoys a four-season climate and a wealth of nearby historic, cultural, and recreational attractions.
