We are currently seeking a skilled and highly motivated
Doctoral Researcher to address exciting research challenges in the area of
human-centric AI for smart manufacturing.
Your role and goals
The doctoral researcher will participate in a Business Finland funded project, ‘
Human-Centric AI-enabled Collaborative Fieldwork Operations’, and will contribute to the development of an AI assistance system for fieldworkers, with a focus on large language model-based solutions for context-aware instruction generation.
Your network and team
The mobile cloud computing group (mobilecloud.aalto.fi) led by Prof. Yu Xiao conducts experimental systems research on novel mobile computing systems for smart manufacturing and digital health. The doctoral researcher will have opportunities to collaborate with both academic and industrial partners throughout the project.
Your experience and ambitions
We are looking for candidates with a master’s degree (or will complete master thesis by end of June 2025) in a relevant discipline and demonstrated hands-on experience with deep learning technologies. Experience with large language models or computer vision applications is considered as a plus.
What we offer
The contract period is initially for 2 years, with an extension possibility. The starting salary for doctoral researcher is 3000 Euro/month. Salary will increase according to the progress of doctoral study over time. The contract includes occupational health benefits, holiday bonus, and Finland has a comprehensive social security system.
Starting date: August 1, 2025, or as mutually agreed upon with the supervisor.
