Data Collection and Processing: Collaborate with speech and language experts to collect and preprocess audio recordings from Arabic-speaking patients.
Data Annotation: Work closely with linguistic experts to manually annotate transcriptions with linguistic and clinical information specific to speech disorders.
Corpus Development: Assist in organizing the annotated speech data into a structured corpus, including audio recordings, transcriptions, and associated metadata.
Machine Learning Model Development: Participate in developing and training ML models for disorder prediction based on the corpus data.
Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough linguistic and clinical analysis of the data, contributing to the development of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for speech and language disorders.
Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with team members from various disciplines, including linguistics, psychology, and computer science.
Dissemination: Assist in preparing scientific publications and presentations for conferences and workshops, and contribute to the development of a user-friendly database interface.
Qualifications:
· PhD in Computer Science, or a related field.
· Demonstrated experience in speech and language processing
· Strong background in data analysis, statistical methods, and machine learning.
· Proficiency in programming languages relevant to data analysis, ML (e.g., Python, R) and signal processing (e.g. MATLAB)
· Publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
· Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English.
· Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Desirable Skills:
· Experience with corpus linguistics and annotation.
· Familiarity with speech processing technologies and tools
· Familiarity with speech and language disorder research, particularly in Arabic.
Duration: two years with a possibility for a third year
