The WITS School of Civil and Environmental Engineering is located in Johannesburg, South Africa, the economic and industrial heartland of the African continent, and for more than 100 years, has been home to internationally recognized academics and produced graduates who have made tremendous contributions to humanity.

 

The School invites applications for the permanent position of Senior Lecturer in Structural Engineering.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering (with a focus on Structural Engineering).
  • A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, and
  • Evidence of teaching, research and successful higher degree supervision in Structural Engineering.

 

ADVANTAGE:

  • NRF rating,
  • ECSA Professional or Candidate Engineering registration, and
  • Evidence of generating research funding.

 

DUTIES: The successful applicant will be expected to lecture Structural Engineering undergraduate courses, as well as other Civil Engineering undergraduate courses; lead a Structural Engineering postgraduate course; participate in academic administration; supervise the research of undergraduate and postgraduate students and develop a productive research programme.
