The Weisberg Division of Engineering in the College of Information Technology and Engineering at Marshall University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in electrical and computer engineering with an emphasis in the area of cybersecurity, security for embedded and real-time systems and networks, hardware/software reverse engineering, system-on a chip (SoC), or computer architecture. The position is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Reporting to the Chair of the Division, the position requires teaching, service, and research responsibilities as well as a terminal degree. The faculty member of this position is required to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses (lecture and laboratory); supervise master’s thesis and undergraduate projects; pursue scholarly activities (including research in the field, writing and managing grants; and preparing peer-reviewed publications); engage in academic mentoring; assist in program assessment and execution of a continuous improvement plan; participate in professional service; and participate in professional activities and organizations. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and laboratory-based instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and exhibit potential for professional recognition via research and publication in their area of expertise. The successful candidate will also contribute to the University’s general education curriculum, with its emphasis on a common First Year Seminar and core curriculum courses that enhance student’s critical thinking and the college’s support of interdisciplinary programs of study.
Candidates, at a minimum, must meet these requirements: (1) earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related fields, with a B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering completed by June 30, 2020, (2) research record and course work that matches area of interest, (3) strong commitment to teach and advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels with a primary emphasis in undergraduate engineering education, (4) capable of integrating area of expertise into our curriculum through core/elective courses and laboratories, and (5) must be able to communicate effectively.
The Weisberg Division of Engineering offers a B.S. in Engineering with a Civil Engineering Emphasis, a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and an M.S. in Engineering with majors in Transportation and Infrastructure Engineering, Engineering Management, and Environmental Engineering. The Division is part of the College of Information Technology and Engineering (CITE), a multi-disciplinary college with a wide range of faculty expertise and interests. The Engineering Division is housed in the Arthur Weisberg Family Applied Engineering Complex, a state-of-the-art complex that opened Fall of 2015.
